Moving from Montessori Compass 1.0 to 2.0
Nine clear steps to get your classrooms, students, teachers, and families onto 2.0. We handle the data—you check it over.
-
Create your 2.0 trial account
This is where everything else starts. Create your school’s account on Montessori Compass 2.0 and complete all three required steps in the Setup Wizard before adding anything else. Your 1.0 account is untouched—it stays available while you transition, so nothing is lost.
Setting up a 2.0 account starts as a free trial—that’s simply how new accounts begin. Once your account is set up, contact support@montessoricompass.com and we’ll align it with your school’s current Montessori Compass 1.0 billing. Current plans are on our pricing page.
-
Set up your classrooms
Recreate your classroom structure in 2.0—same names your staff and families already know—so your imported students have a place to land.
- Settings → Classroom → Add Classroom
- Name each classroom to match your 1.0 setup
- Assign the program level for each classroom
-
Export and update your student and parent data
Pull your roster from 1.0, give it a once-over—classrooms, cycle years, new enrollments, families who’ve moved on—and email it back to us at support@montessoricompass.com. We import it for you, free.
- In 1.0: Student Profiles page → clear the classroom filter (“All Students”)
- Click “Download as csv”
- Update anything that’s changed—classrooms, enrollments, families
- Email the file to support@montessoricompass.com—done. We’ll confirm when your students are in.
-
Add your guides and staff
Invite your teachers and admin staff to 2.0 and set their roles. Guides see their own classrooms; administrators see the whole school. Staff can log in and explore before any families arrive.
-
Tell parents what’s changing
Photos in the old parent app don’t carry over to Classroom Share, so families should download any they’d like to keep. They can do that at any time—including today—so it’s worth letting them know early rather than leaving it to the end. Montessori Compass 1.0 retires on December 31, 2026, which is the final date, not the recommended one.
This applies to parent-app photos only. Your school’s data—students and parents, curriculum, and your record keeping and observation history—is part of the migration we handle for you.
-
Introduce families to Classroom Share
Classroom Share is the new parent app for 2.0—photos, messages, and progress updates in one place, even for families with children at more than one school. Invite your families once your classrooms and students are in.
-
Keep your 1.0 records
Your school’s history comes with you: your record keeping and observation history migrates to 2.0 alongside your students, parents, and curriculum. (Parent-app photos are the exception—see step 5.)
If you’d also like a copy for your own files, an archive of recorded lessons is available on request—email support@montessoricompass.com and we’ll prepare it for you.
-
Join a live training webinar
Live group webinars walk your staff through daily record keeping, messaging, and reports in 2.0—led by a real person who knows Montessori classrooms. Sessions are recorded, so nobody has to attend live. And our support team is with you the whole way.
-
Mark the key dates
There’s no scramble here—just one date that matters.
Key dates to keep in mind
December 31, 2026 Montessori Compass 1.0 retires. Schools should be fully on 2.0 by then.
- Your 1.0 account stays available until that date—nothing is lost in the meantime
- Classroom Share fully replaces the old parent app
