Montessori Compass was founded by Montessori parents who began their journey in 2010, inspired by the positive impact Montessori education had on their four children. Over the years, they came to appreciate the thoughtful, child-centered approach of the Montessori method—one that encourages curiosity, independence, and respectful relationships. These experiences deeply influenced both their family life and professional outlook.
With a background in technology and software development, they set out to build a solution to a challenge faced by many Montessori educators: how to simplify classroom record keeping and parent communication in a way that supports the unique needs of Montessori classrooms.
After years of development and close collaboration with Montessori educators, Montessori Compass officially launched in 2012. Since then, the platform has been used by thousands of classrooms around the world, supporting a wide range of Montessori programs—from small independent schools to larger, multi-site organizations.
At the heart of the platform is a customizable and comprehensive Montessori Scope & Sequence, designed to support programs from infant through age 12. We are honored to maintain a long-standing partnership with Tim Seldin and the Montessori Foundation, whose insight and leadership have helped shape the direction of Montessori Compass from the very beginning.
In 2025, we introduced Montessori Compass 2.0—a completely rebuilt and redesigned version of the platform. This new version was created from the ground up based on years of thoughtful feedback from educators working in Montessori classrooms of all sizes, in diverse communities around the world. The result is a faster, more flexible system that provides a modern record keeping and parent communication experience, while remaining grounded in Montessori philosophy.
We also feel privileged to have expanded our work through a new partnership with AIMS, alongside our continued collaboration with the Montessori Foundation. Together, we’ve introduced the Montessori Growth Suite—a new offering that extends beyond classroom management to support the broader needs of school operations.
The Growth Suite includes tools for admissions, marketing, automation, and family engagement, offering schools a more cohesive way to manage the entire lifecycle of a prospective family—from first inquiry to enrollment and beyond. It brings together systems for digital forms, email workflows, and CRM-style lead tracking, all designed with the same Montessori-aligned principles that have guided Montessori Compass from the beginning.
As Montessori Compass continues to grow, our focus remains steady: to listen to educators, improve thoughtfully, and provide tools that support the important work happening every day in Montessori classrooms.
